Definitions

Company, we and Shire Travel” refers to Shire Travel private hire which is licensed by Shropshire County Council as a private hire operator. The companies’ operator’s licence is PHO588

You, your or customer” is a reference to you as an individual, company or other business that holds a booking with Shire Travel private hire.

Driver” this refers to a licensed driver that either works with Shire Travel private hire or affiliated with a sub-contractor

Sub-Contractor” refers to a company that is affiliated with Shire Travel private hire and is licensed to permit such activities

bilking” refers to a customer, company or other business that fails to pay for a journey during travel. 

  1. Bookings

    1. When booking customers need to ensure they book in advance. This will ensure there is no unwanted issues. By booking in advance this will ensure that there is sufficient time for bookings such as railways, airport/seaport transfers and any appointments that require a punctual arrival. Shire Travel private hire cannot be held responsible for delays due insufficient amount of time left for activities such as check in, arrivals and connections

    2. Shire Travel cannot accept any liability, costs losses or damages incurred to the customer due to missed flights, check ins, travel connections, breakdowns, adverse weather conditions, traffic conditions, road closures or any circumstances that are beyond the control of Shire Travel private hire.

    3. Shire Travel private hire cannot guarantee that all luggage will be able to fit safely in the licensed vehicle. It is advisable to ensure that you take luggage that will fit into a reasonably sized saloon/estate vehicle.

    4. Should you require any additional support such as a wheelchair/guide dog, please contact us. We are very happy to accommodate where practically possible and where the law dictates that we must.

    5. There is no minimum age for a passenger however regardless of a passengers age they will be considered as one passenger. There is NO exceptions to this.

2. Services

  1. Airport transfers include a 60-minute wait period after the plane has landed. If the wait time passes the allotted 60 minutes a wait charge will be added to the booking. This will be charged at £22-00 per hour prorated plus any additional parking charges that occur at the relevant airport.

  2. Railway bookings include a 10-minute wait period from when the train is due in. Once this has passed, Shire Travel reserves the right to cancel the booking without a refund. A wait charge will be applied for any waiting than 10 minutes longer which is charged at £22-00 per hour prorated.

  3. Customers are not permitted to eat, drink, smoke or vape in the vehicle at any time. It is against the law to smoke in a licenced vehicle.

  4. Shire Travel permits pets to travel on the basis that they notify us at the time of booking. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of your booking with you being fully charged without refund. If you have a guide dog or (working animal) we will permit these regardless of if you have told us or not. A non-working pet such as a domesticated dog will incur a small fee (£5-00) for the purpose of cleaning the vehicle ready for the next booking. Working dogs such as guide dogs will incur NO CHARGE.

Shire Travel private hire does not provide child seats. We are happy to use your own personal child seat and store this when applicable. Shire Travel private hire cannot be held liable for any loss or damage to the child seats if we do store them. The storing of child seats is Free of charge.

3. Payment Terms, quotations and pricing

  1. Customers can request a quote at any time. This can be obtained by phone, WhatsApp and email (See section 1.6 for details.) Shire Travel will endeavour to honour the price quoted however this may change due to information you provide. If this is incorrect or any changes then the price may change. Quotations are an estimate and are not binding.

  2. Shire Travel private hire intends to send booking confirmation at the point of confirming a booking. You may receive this via email and/or WhatsApp. Confirmation is based on information you provide us. Confirmation will have vital information to help us with your booking. Shire travel private hire will not be held responsible for any losses occurred by you from any information that you have provided to be incorrect such as flight numbers, dates of arrival etc. Where a customer has booked a collection on the wrong date you will liable for any additional costs that we incur.

  3. Payments for any long distance journeys will need to be paid for at least 48 hours before travel. Pre booked work requires payment prior to travel unless agreed that you will pay in the car. If you cancel your booking on the day without payment then you be subjected to Shire Travels Cancellation policy (Section 4.2)

  4. Payments can be made via bank transfer, payment link, debit/credit card, cash or cheque (Max amount for £500-00)

  5. Shire Travel is only licensed for 4 passengers and below and can take suitable sized luggage.

 

4. Cancellation

  1. We do understand that cancellations happened. Please inform us as soon as possible. If cancelled after the vehicle has been dispatched, you will be charged for the full fare that was agreed.

  2. Our cancellation policy is dictated with the terms below. Refund are given within the following timeframes.

  • Cancelled with 48 hours or more notice: FULL REFUND

  • Cancelled less than 48 hours’ notice but more than 24: 50% REFUND

  • Cancelled less than 24 hours’ notice: NO REFUND

  • If you do not show up for your booking this will be treated as less than 24 hours’ notice. No refund will be given. If no payment was received, then you will be liable for paying the full fare agreed.

If agreed with Shire Travel that you will pay for your fare in the car then fail to do so this maybe classed as bilking. This is against the law and Shire Travel may look to prosecute for the full fare.​                                       

 

 5. Soiling/Damage to vehicle

If you are or any of your group are unwell during the vehicle and are sick over seats, car mats any other part of the vehicle you will be subject to a soiling charge. This will be £80-00 PLUS any losses that we incur due to taking a vehicle off the road. Soiling may also be through urination or defecation on seats, mats and other parts of the vehicle.                                                                                                                                         

If you or any part of your group damages the vehicle for example opening the door into a lamppost, parked car or wall you will be liable for the full repair any losses incurred through taking the vehicle off the road.                  

 

6. Liability                                                                                                                                                                                           Shire Travel private hire shall not be held liable for missed flights, connections, meetings, or appointments resulting from delays beyond its control, including but not limited to traffic conditions, adverse weather, road closures, or other unforeseen circumstances. While the Shire Travel private hire makes every effort to provide timely service, delays may occur and are sometimes unavoidable.                                                                                                             

Shire Travel private hire liability is strictly limited to the original cost of the booked journey, and no further compensation will be offered.                                                                                                                                             

Shire Travel private hire does not accept responsibility for any consequential or indirect losses, including missed events, financial penalties, or other related costs.                                                                                                             

The luggage carried in the cabs will be at your own risk. Shire Travel private hire will not be held liable for their loss in any way.

 

7. Circumstances beyond control

  1. 7.1 Shire Travel private hire shall not be held liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations under these Terms and Conditions due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control. Such events include, but are not limited to:

  2. Acts of God (e.g., floods, storms, earthquakes)

  3. Severe weather conditions

  4. Strikes, lockouts, or industrial disputes

  5. Government actions or restrictions

  6. Road closures or traffic accidents

  7. National emergencies

  8. Public transport or airport disruptions

  9. Fuel shortages

  10. Terrorist acts, civil unrest, or riots

  11. Epidemics, pandemics, or public health emergencies

  12. In such cases, the Shire Travel private hire reserves the right to cancel or reschedule services without liability. Where possible, reasonable efforts will be made to notify the Customer and offer an alternative solution or refund, subject to operational constraints                                                                                                               

8. Termination

  1. Shire Travel private hire reserves the right to terminate any journey when circumstances arise. Should the customer put the vehicle or driver in harms way through incidents such as violence, abuse by you or passengers, you will be required to leave the vehicle where safe to do so. No refunds will be given under any circumstances.

​9. Subcontractors

  1. Shire Travel private hire may use sub-contractor to fulfil its booking commitments. This does not transfer your rights and Shire travel private hire holds full responsibility for the booking.

  2. Subcontractors will be vetted to ensure they are licensed with their relevant authority; ensure they have the correct insurance and that their drivers are licensed with the relevant authority.
